Mwangi wa Iria as popularly known, who is Francis Mwangi wa Iria is the first and two-term governor of Muranga county. He is the vice-chairman of the council of Governors of Kenya. His real name is Francis Mwangi. Governor Mwangi coined no wira tu slogan.

Wa iria was born in Kiboi village, Kiharu, Muranga County. Currently, information about his date of birth is unavailable.

During the 2013 general elections, Francis Mwangi shared his sir name with his competitor. To distinguish him from his competitor, Mwangi added the suffix wa Iria (Iria means milk). The name blended well as he had just been a former managing director at New Kenya Cooperative Cremaries (new KCC).

Mwangi wa Iria Education

Governor wa Iria started his education at Kiboi primary School and later Weithaga Boys. After his high school education, he joined Moi University. He additionally, has received training from the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply in the United Kingdom

Career

Mwangi wa Iria has worked as a senior employee in different companies before joining politics.

Among the companies he worked for are;

Politics

In 2013, Wa Iria was elected governor of Muranga county on a TNA ticket. In 2017, he was re-elected on Jubilee’s party ticket.

He has declared to run for president in the 2022 generation election on the Usawa Kwa Wote party.

Family

Wa Iria married Jane Waigwe, who has been at goodwill in assisting the less privileged by urging investors to support and help uplift their lives. The couple has three children. Their firstborn daughter is Rachael Wanja. The daughter dated a businessman and a politician by the name Ben Gatu, with whom they got a daughter together.
