Lady Justice Martha Koome is a Kenyan advocate and Human Rights Defender serving as the Chief Justice of Kenya since 21 May 2021. She was born in 1960 in Kithiu village in Meru. She is the Chief Justice of Kenya and the president of the supreme court of Kenya. However, she was a practicing judge at the court of Appeal in Kenya until 27 April 2021. She is the first woman to serve as Chief Justice in Kenya. In addition, she has an aggregate of 33 years of experience in the legal profession.
