Hollywood got a head start on his career at his father’s bakery as a teenager, and went on to be the head baker at several hotels in the UK and internationally. Soon after returning from working in Cyprus, he began appearing on a number of British TV shows on both BBC and ITV. Most importantly, he has authored some of the most popular books such as 100 Great pieces of bread in 2004, How to Bake in 2012, Paul Hollywood’s Bread in 2012, Paul Hollywood’s Pies and Puds in 2013, and Paul Hollywood’s British Baking in 2014, and The Weekend Baker in 2016.

The Great American Baking Show is an American cooking competition television series and an adaptation of The Great British Bake Off. The show is aired in the United States under the title The Great British Baking Show. The first season of the show aired on ABC under the title The Great Holiday Baking Show. It is the second licensed adaptation of the GBBO format in the United States.CBS produced one season of The American Baking Competition in 2013, which was hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, with Paul Hollywood and Mexican-American chef Marcela Valladolid as judges.
The first two seasons of the show were hosted by Nia Vardalos and Ian Gomez, with Mary Berry from the original GBBO series and American pastry chef Johnny Iuzzini as judges. The third season was hosted by cookbook author Ayesha Curry and former football player Anthony Adams. Iuzzini rejoined the show as a judge and was joined by original GBBO judge Paul Hollywood. This season was pulled off schedule following sexual harassment allegations against judge Iuzzini. As a result, he was officially fired from the show and ABC. Curry and Iuzzini did not return for the fourth season.
The show was renewed for a fourth season on May 4, 2018, with Emma Bunton and Sherry Yard hired to replace in the following season as host and judge, respectively. On August 1, 2019, the show was renewed for a fifth season, which premiered on December 12, 2019.
It was announced on May 3, 2022, that The Roku Channel would be airing a new season of the show, with Paul Hollywood coming back as judge, along with Prue Leith from GBBO. Roku also stated the plans to air The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Holiday Edition, featuring celebrities competing to raise money for charity.
