In 1999, Cameron got a job with WSVN in the summer. He worked for a decade in the 7 Weather Center. During an interview, he quoted that he would clearly remember preparing to move to Miami. He said a friend of his told him that he had it made. The job would be in paradise and forecasting would be as predictable as it is in the real weather. He quickly realized how many local influences come together to produce tricky weather conditions in South Florida.

When storms would feel risky, he directed people through the stormy weather since south Floridians are often boating. He is well aware of the marine weather.

Brent Cameron at work

He started his forecasting career in western Montana. He secured an opportunity as a primary weather anchor at KPAX-TV, Missoula, in the year 1994. One year later, he left for WPTA-TV in Ft. Wayne Indiana, near his hometown of Wabash. There, he worked for about 5 years tracking tornadoes. He would also monitor wild weather in the Midwest. Then, before the new Millennium, the chance arrived to move south and Miami became home.

Again, he returned to Indiana to join the largest weather team in the nation, at WTHR in Indianapolis in the year 2003. This got him a different studio that housed a 24-hour weather station called “SkyTrak”. Therefore, they were to track thunderstorms and snowstorms continuously for hours (on-air), from Illinois to Ohio. Later, he returned to WSVN working as a weekend evening meteorologist.

Career

However, his career was ignited by the “Indy 500” Tornado Outbreak of 2004, and Hurricane Wilma in 2005.
