The Africa Cup of Nations did start on the 9th of January 2022. The AFCON is in Cameroon till date 6 February 2022.
To begin with, the tournament usually starts with the group stages and the knockout stage follows as the semi-finals and after that, the finals come last.
Stages Of The AFCON.
The following are the dates and stages of the matches:
- Group Stage – 9th of January 2022 till the 20th of January 2022.
- Round of 16 – 23rd of January till the 26th in January 2022.
- Quarter Final – 29th of January till date 30 in January.
- Semi – Finals : 2nd February till the 3rd of February.
- Third place play off : 6th of January.
- Finals : The finals will be in the 6th of January 2022.
On the other hand, the stages have been divided into different groups which we are going to write about.
Group Stages.
- Group A consists of : Burkina farso, Ethiopia, Cameroon and Cape verd.
- ” B consists of : Senegal, Malawi, Zibambwe and Guinea.
- ” C consists of : Ghana, Comoros, Gabon and Morocco.
- ” D consists of : Nigeria, Egypt, Sudan and Guinea Bissau.
- ” E consists of : Algeria, sierra Leone, Equatorial Guinea and cote D’ ivore.
- ” F consists of : Tunisia, Mali, Mauritania and Gambia.
Knock Outs.
After the group stage which started on the 9th of January, some teams got knocked out after losing to their opponents.
The teams that won, however, did head to the round of 16 on the 23rd of January.
The last line ups teams on the round of 16 had to eliminate some teams for the semi-finals. The semi-finals had 4 teams that were playing against each other.

The semi-final fixture is as follows:
- Burkina Faso was playing against Senegal and as results, Senegal won with three goals scored against one.
- Cameroon and Egypt had a tight up match where they ended in a draw match. However, the penalty shoot out led the Egypt team to win in a (1-3) winning.
Match For Third Place.
Burkina Faso and Cameroon teams will face each other on Sunday night at 22:00hrs for a search of the third-place team. In addition, the match is going to be held the same day as the final match.
AFCON Finals.
The final match between Egypt and Senegal will be the match that will determine the winner of the Africa Cup Of Nations. This will be the end of the (AFCON) where many people are waiting to see the winning team.
