Tiwa Savage whose birth name is Tiwatope Savage is a Nigerian singer, media personality, songwriter, and actress. She is known as the queen of Afrobeat. However, she sings in English and Yoruba making her music be categorized into afrobeat, pop R&B, and hip-hop. So, she was the first woman to win the Best African Act in the 2018 MTV Europe music award. Apart from music, Tiwa has helped in many youth empowerment projects and cancer screening projects all over Nigeria. As a media personality, she signed many endorsement deals with brands like Pepsi, Maggi, and forte oil. In addition, she has helped the organization raise money to build a school back in her hometown. her famous for her songs like ‘Kele kele love, Eminado among others.

In 2007 Tiwa graduated from the Berklee College of Music with a degree in professional music.

Tiwa Savage was married to Tunji Balogun, well known by his stage name Tee Billz. The two of them meet in 2012 when Tiwa Savage move back to Nigeria. They had a traditional wedding on 23 November 2013, then later a white wedding on 26 April 2014 in Dubai. The couple was blessed with a son in 2015 before they divorced due to infidelity.
Music career
Tiwa started playing music from back while in school where she played the trombone for the school band. She did the backup vocal for famous musicians like Mary J Blige, Chaka Khan, and Kelly Clarkson among others. In the year 2019, Tiwa signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV music publishing which enabled her to write songs for musicians like Kat Deluna, and Babyface among many others. In 2010 her collaboration with Fantasia on the song ‘Collard Greens & Cornbread’ earned her a Grammy nomination. Inspired by the growth of music back in her home country Tiwa returned to Nigeria and signed with Mavin Records from 2012 to 2019. It is through music that Tiwa Savage has grown and made a name for herself worldwide. She has signed with big music labels like universal music group and R.E.D and rec nation. Has made collaborated with artists like Wizkid, Davido, and Diamond.
