Robert attended different educational institutions. He started at the High School of Music and Art in New York City. Later, he switched to McBurney School, which is a public high school. After completing high school, he joined Stella Adler Conservatory and the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, both located in New York City. The institutions are known for their emphasis on acting and dramatic arts training. However, his true education in acting primarily came from hands-on experience and immersion in the film industry.


On matters concerning relationships, De Niro has had several. First, he had a relationship with Diahnne Abbott. They got married in 1976. However, they divorced in 1988 but maintained an amicable relationship. They have two children. Again he got into a relationship with Toukie Smith. She is also known as Sandra Smith and is an actress and model. They had a significant relationship in the late 1980s, and have twin sons. However, later he married Grace Hightower who is an actress and philanthropist. He married her in 1997. Initially, they separated in 1999 but reconciled and renewed their vows in 2004. Unfortunately, they divorced in 2018. Together, they have a daughter.

So, his acting journey started in the late 1960s with notable roles in films like “Greetings” (1968) and “Hi, Mom!” (1970), directed by Brian De Palma. His breakthrough came with his portrayal of young Vito Corleone in “The Godfather Part II” (1974). It earned him his first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Later, he had a partnership with director Martin Scorsese has been influential. First, they collaborated on “Mean Streets” (1973). Again, they went on to create several critically acclaimed films, including “Taxi Driver” (1976), “Raging Bull” (1980), “Goodfellas” (1990), and “Casino” (1995). His performances in these films got him great praise and multiple award nominations.

He has displayed his versatility in films such as “The Deer Hunter” (1978), “Once Upon a Time in America” (1984), “Midnight Run” (1988), “Heat” (1995), and “Silver Linings Playbook” (2012). Alongside his acting career, he has ventured into directing and producing. He made his directorial debut with “A Bronx Tale” (1993), in which he also starred. Additionally, he has produced numerous films, including “The Good Shepherd” (2006), “Limitless” (2011), and “Joker” (2019).
