Reasons for fast-aging skin and remedies.

Fast aging

Fast-aging skin may be a result of several things. However, you may not do anything to some but can influence others. One of the things we may not change is the natural aging process of the skin. With older age, you get visible lines on your face. Therefore, it is natural for the face of aged persons to lose some of its youthful fullness. You may notice your skin becoming thinner and drier. This is greatly controlled by genes. So, this type of skin aging is known as intrinsic aging.

However, you can influence another type of aging that affects your skin. Your environment and lifestyle can cause the skin to age fast. That type of aging is called extrinsic aging. So,  taking some preventive measures can slow the effects that this type of aging has on the skin. There are several factors that causes a direct effect on how quickly the signs appear on your skin. They are;

Smoking

Cigarette smoke has got some toxins that expose your skin to oxidative stress. So, this results in dryness, wrinkles, and other signs of your skin aging fast.

Sunlight exposure.

Sunlight helps in battering your skin, which saps the supply of Vitamin C. This is because vitamin C acts as an important antioxidant that fights free radicals caused by UV rays, it’s a necessary compound to keep you from drying up in the sun.  However, exposure to the sun for long hours penetrates your skin with Ultra-Violet rays. These rays damage the DNA in the cells of the skin, making it develop wrinkles. This is the biggest environmental factor that contributes by far, to the behavior of your skin.

Genes

Fast-aging of the skin

There are some genetic conditions that are not very common and they may cause signs of aging in childhood and early puberty. The condition is known as progeria. There are two major types of progeria which are the Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome which may occur at the beginning of early childhood and Werner syndrome which mostly occur in adults later in life.

Werner syndrome causes wrinkles on the skin, graying of the hair, and balding to develop between 13 and 30 years. Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome makes children not grow as quickly as others in their age group. Also, they experience thin limbs and baldness. The average life expectancy for children living with Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome is lower.

Habits of sleep

Sleeping helps to give your body an opportunity to refresh and regenerate cells. Research has shown that poor sleep quality can be connected to increased signs of fast aging.

Diet

Some research shows that a diet high in sugar and refined carbohydrates may damage your skin with time. Also, drinking excess alcohol dehydrates your body. Over time, the dehydration causes your skin to sag and lose its shape.

Caffeine may also have a similar effect to alcohol, although there is conflicting research about if daily coffee consumption may cause wrinkles.

Environment

Environmental factors such as pollutants may trigger pigment spots. This is because your skin comes into contact with the air around you directly. Therefore, the skin barrier is subjected to toxins and pollutants in the daily environment.

Stress

Living a stressful lifestyle may trigger an inflammatory response to your body and skin. Also, it may disrupt your sleep habits. Therefore, stress hormones and inflammation may bring about fast aging of the skin.
