In 2016, he lost part of his lower lip to squamous cell carcinoma. His journey with the cancer began in July. He noted that he noticed a small painful red bump on the lower lip which made him pay a visit to the doctor. During his appointment, it was confirmed after a biopsy that he has cancer. However, later the same week, he spent five hours with seven different surgical procedures. These were to remove the cancer from his lower lip. Therefore, he survived.
