She in a public television as an assistant producer and director which was in the East Coast. Shari later worked for the Hanna-Barbera productions as an assistant publisher in Los Angeles.
She was chosen by Aaron Spelling as a finalist as the Julie Rogers on the film Charlie’s Angels, Spelling was the producer of the Charlie’s Angels. In 1981 during the second season of the Hart to Hart she was cast as a fashion model.

In 1990 Shari made her theatre debut in Tamara where she played the role in the title in the lon-running Los Angeles and the appeared as Dr. Laura Wingate in the USA Network’s a drama series Beyond Reality that went for two seasons. She also featured in the best television movies in the 1990s including The Heidi Chronicles as Jamie Lee Curtis, Babylon 5: Thirdspace, as Susan Lucci in the French Silk, Loving Evangeline and also co-hosted the syndicated series Lifestyles with Robin Leach and Shari Belafonte in 1994 which is an updated version of the program Leach’s signature.

Belafonte was also a Voice cover moderator where among the voices she produced the voice of the undead Southern belle zombie Blanche in Gravedale and Gerald’s mother, Mrs. Johanssen, in four episodes of Hey Arnold!. She also did a cause in animals Children and environment where she is an international spokesperson for Starlight Children’s Foundation, she has also been a spokesperson for Estroven, Bally’s International Health and Fitness and Diet System 6. In 2015 Shari appeared in an episode of District and Nip/Tuck as a guest starring then in January 2016 she was to take the role of Mayor Janice Lomax in the ABC daytime soap opera General Hospital.
She last appeared in December 20th 2017 as Julia in the Apple TV+ drama series in The Morning Show. In late 2017 she took the role of Ebony Obsidian’s character’s mother in the BET comedy-drama series titled Sistas.
