So, he went to school at Mavirivirini Primary School in the year 1979. Thereafter, he joined  Mpeketoni Secondary School from the year 1987 to 1990. After completing secondary school, he went for a Bachelor’s degree in Agri-Business Management at Egerton University where he graduated in 1996.

Also, he holds a Master’s Degree in Participation, Power, and Social Change that he got from the Institute of Development Studies in England, UK. In addition.

Career

  • He was an acting Country Director in Plan Kenya in 2008.
  • He worked with the Aga Khan Foundation and Tegemeo Institute of Agricultural Policy and Development. This is an institute of Egerton University.
  • He also helped in implementing programs that were funded by DFID, USAID, Ministries of Foreign Affairs Netherlands and Finland, and NORAD in Norway.

Political career

Mvurya ran for Kwale gubernatorial seat in the year 2013 under the ticket of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party and won. In May 2014, he was elected the vice chairman of the Council of Governors Mvurya left ODM in 2016 when he made a public announcement and joined the Jubilee Alliance. In  August 2017, he was elected as the chairman of the Kenya Council of Governors.

Mvurya was on 27th September 2022 appointed the Cabinet Secretary for Mining by his excellency president William Ruto.
