Moreover, she also worked as the U.S. Secretary of Transportation during President Donald Trump’s term. However, Elaine and Mitch have no biological children together.

Career

So, his career started after completing his law degree where he started working as an attorney. This made him get a lot of experience while he was serving as an assistant to Senator Marlow Cook from the year 1968 to 1970.

Again, when President Gerald Ford’s administration took power, Mitch got the position of Deputy Assistant Attorney General from the year 1974 to 1975.

In the year 1977, he got elected as the Judge for Jefferson County, Kentucky. This was a great opportunity as it provided him with a better view of the state’s political landscape.

Therefore, in 1984, he vied for the U.S. Senator from Kentucky and won defeating the incumbent Democrat Walter “Dee” Huddleston. Since then, he has maintained the seat by being re-elected every time. His popularity raised him to greater heights and rapidly became the Senate Majority Whip in the years 2003, 2007, and 2015.

Throughout his career in the Senate, he has been a firm advocate for policies, tax reform matters, deregulation, conservative judicial appointments, and national security.
