Nelson Mandela whose full names are Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela born on July 18 1918 in Mvezo, South Africa. His parents’ names are Nonqaphi Nosekeni and Nkosi Mandela. At the age of 12, his father passed away.

When at the primary school level, his teacher Miss Mdingane gave the custom of giving all school children Christian names. Therefore, she called him Nelson.

However, his death was announced to the people by president Jacob Zuma on National Television.

South Africa observed ten days of mourning with the memorial services being held all over the city of Johannesburg and also the country, while the main service was held at FNB stadium in the city.

Mandela’s body lays in the state of the UNONA Building waiting for a funnel that was later held on 15th December in QUNU, easter cape, where the body was buried.
