The area around the Lake was the home area for the Endorois people who were later forcefully evicted in the 1970s. Due to its neutralizing nature, there is a massive growth of algae that the flamingoes feed on. The site of the flamingoes feeding on the algae creates a wonderful scenery that is not witnessed in any other part of the world.
