Franklin Mithika Linturi is a Kenyan who was born in a place known as  Akachiu in Igembe South Constituency, Meru County. Franklin was a representative of Meru County to the Senate elected in the 2017 general election.

Also, he was elected to represent Igembe South Constituency in the National Assembly in 2007. This was during the parliamentary election and he retained the position up to 2017 when he became a senator. However, he served as a Member of Parliament for Igembe South he served for 10 years.

Education of Franklin Mithika Linturi

Linturi went to Amwamba Primary for his primary education. After completing primary education, he joined Igembe Boys Secondary School.  Later he pursued a Diploma in Marketing from the Kenya Institute of Marketing (KIM) and a certificate course in Insurance from the College of Insurance. 

Also, he attended Meru Technical College for a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) course. It is also said that he did a business course at the University of Colombia. However, this information is yet to be verified.

So, Linturis’ family life has not been made open to the public although previously, there emerged news about him having disputes with his estranged wife Marianne Kitany. Franklins’ name was dragged in the mud during that period when Kitany was accusing him of assaulting her.

Career

In the year 1997, Franklin vied for Igembe South parliamentary seat through the Safina party which he lost to Jackson. After his loss, he joined National Development Party (NDP). This party later merged with KANU.  Again, in the year 2002, he vied for the Igembe parliamentary seat under the KANU ticket. However, he also lost to Raphael Muriungi. Franklin vied for Igembe South parliamentary in 2007 for the third time. This time round he won the seat still under the KANU party. Therefore,  this is when he became a member of the 10th parliament.

 In March 2013, he joined the Departmental Committee on Energy, Communications, and Information. Also, he joined Public Investments and House Business Committee.  In 2017, he run for Meru senatorial seat under Jubilee Coalition and won. So, this made him the second senator ever in the county.

On September 27th, 2022, Linturi was appointed CS of Agriculture and livestock development by His excellency president William Ruto.
