Campbell’s television career began at ESPN, where he worked as a production assistant from 2000 to 2002. He then secured his first on-air job as a weekend sports anchor/reporter in San Angelo, Texas. After 15 months there, he moved on to become the weekend sports anchor in Lufkin, Texas, followed by a two-year tenure as a sports anchor/reporter at CW33 in Dallas.
