Eczema

Eczema refers to a skin condition where the skin’s topmost layer is always dry, itchy, and rashy. Therefore, there are seven known types of eczema as discussed below;

Atopic Dermatitis type of eczema.

It is a skin condition that makes the skin itchy and reddish. It mostly affects babies at a young age. Also, it is a constantly recurring disease and goes away with time. Atopic mostly come as a result of allergens such as dust and pollen, strong fabric use, infections, stress, and weather change in some areas. The most affected parts are knees, elbows, back of the neck, ankles, and knees, private parts among others.

Stasis.

Stasis mostly affects people with poor blood flow. So, it mostly affects the lower legs. It may cause some itchiness and swell on the lower parts of the legs. The condition is also known as Varicose Eczema. However, the condition comes as a result of high blood pressure, varicose veins, kidney failure, being overweight, too many pregnancies, and blood clots.

Neurodermatitis.

Neurodermatitis mostly affects the neck, anal region, wrists, and legs. However, the more one itch, the more the area gets itchier. Wearing clothes that are too tight hence the poor circulation of air on breathing skin pores or an insect bite may result in the condition. An injured or damaged nerve in the body may also result in it. If the skin is too dry, more itchiness is experienced.

Contact Dermatitis.

This often appears as cracked blisters with some oozing pus. The skin also looks dry and scaly. It often occurs on the hands. Some skins react to hair products, cosmetics, and perfumes that are directly in contact with the skin. Some jewelry also causes a reaction in the skin

Nummular Eczema.

Eczema effects on infants.

The skin appears to have round/ring-shaped spots which are itchy and dry. Moreover, males are more affected than females. Most dry and sensitive skins often are at high-risk insect bites or burns are also a major cause of this type of eczema. The sores may spread over time and last for several months.

Dyshidrotic Eczema.

Is a type of eczema where blisters develop on sores of the feet or palms of the hands. The major cause is the use of hypersensitive soaps. However, to calm the blisters, one might be recommended to use medicated soaks for some time.

Seborrheic.

Mostly said to affect the scalp. It causes unending strain with dandruff and an itchy scalp. Most oily body parts are also affected such as the nose, eyelids, ears, and chest. The main cause is a yeast found on the skin surface known as Malassezia when in excess. It is treatable by the use of antifungals such as salicylic acid and clotrimazole.
