Acne is a common skin condition that brings pimples mostly on the face, the pimples are pus-filled and painful at times. It mainly affects teens and young adults. Medical treatment for acne is acne vulgaris.

Types of acne.

Fungal- it occurs when yeast builds up in hair follicles.

Cystic – Cystic acne causes deep pimples and models, which can cause scars.

Hormonal acne – This affects adults who have an overproduction of sebum that block their pores.

Nodular -it causes pimples to appear on the surface of the skin and tender your skin.

who does it affect?

At some point, it affects everyone in their lifetime. However, it is most common among teens undergoing hormonal changes. It can also take place during adulthood and is widespread among women assigned to females at birth. Acne can also be genetically transmitted.

  • Forehead
  • Chest
  • Shoulders

This is where oil glands exist all over the body.

Symptoms of Acne

Pimples or pustules- These are very small bumps often red then purple and darker than your skin.

Blackheads- They are pimples with black on the top.

Whiteheads- These are also pimples with white tops.

Nodules- These are very large and happen under the skin.

Note that several acne types cause nodules and cysts.

Causes of Acne

So, it is caused by clogged hair follicles, which are small tubes that hold the hair. When too many glands are emptied into the hair follicles, the clog occurs.

All this happens if the following are found.

Therefore, when the poles clog this creates a pimple, that then triggers inflammation. This brings about swelling and pain or a change of color.

Some other causes are:

Food products that may cause:

  • Skim milk.
  • High concentrate sugar.
  • A lot of protein.

Grades of acne.

So, there are four grades for this condition. These are;

  • Grade 1- Mild, whiteheads and blackheads
  • Gràde 2-Pustular, the appearance of papules on the face.
  • Grade 3-Nodulocystic, pimples all over the body.
  • Grade 4 -Severe nodulocystic, very painful nodules.

Treatment.

However, treatment is done according to your age.

A health worker may recommend taking oral medication or other types. The main aim of the treatment is to prevent more.

Types of medication

There are also ways to prevent it:

  • Washing your face daily with warm water and soaps.
  • keeping your hands away from your face.
  • Avoid makeup; if done, remove it with warm water at the end of the day.

So, if the symptoms persist, check with a dermatologist who treats the skin.
