Additionally, he worked for the government of Tanzania in the ministry of finance as the deputy permanent secretary. Later in 2015, he was appointed to serve in the position of minister for finance and planning until in the year 2021 when The president of Tanzania Suluhu Hassan nominated him to serve as the vice president.
