Dark circles under the eyes are usually caused by being tired. Sometimes, what appears to be dark circles under the eyes may merely be shadows cast. This is by puffy eyelids or allows under the eyes that develop as a normal part of aging. However, a dark circle under the eyes usually are not a sign of a medical problem. poor quality sleep and insomnia can certainly cause this condition.

Symptoms of dark circles under the eyes.

Causes.

Allergies – the body releases a chemical called histamine in response to an allergen. Therefore, histamine causes the blood vessels to dilate.

Fatigue- failing to get enough sleep can cause the skin to appear dull. However, the paleness of the skin allows the blood vessels and darker tissues to become more visible through it.

Dehydration- proper hydration is important for health. Furthermore, hydrating regularly creates fresh, glowing plumpness to the face.

Anemia– proper levels of iron in the blood are important for circulating oxygen to the body. In addition, people with anemia can have dark circles under their eyes.

Excessive rubbing of the eye area- histamine can cause the eye to itch, which can prompt rubbing around the eyes. However, excessive rubbing can result in swelling and inflammation.

Trauma- it’s possible for a black eye to occur after cosmetic facial surgery. In addition, an accident that involves the eye being hit by an object can cause bruising around it.

Genetics- genetic hyperpigmentation is a common cause of dark circles. Therefore, in these cases, the skin around the eye is darker than it’s on the rest of the face.

Remedies.

Applying cold compresses to the eyes to reduce swelling and constrict vessels.

Applying phenylephrine under the eyes to constrict blood vessels. However, it may irritate the eyes, so use it infrequently.
