Kamala Harris is the vice president of the United States of America, under the president Joe Bidden. She has been in the office since 2021. Additionally, she has also worked as an Attorney General, and a senator. She is the first woman to hold the office. Currently, she is under Democratic party.

Kamala was born on October 20th 1964 in Oakland California. Therefore, she is 59 years old. Her parents are Donald Harris and Shyamala Gopalan. Both of them were emigrants from India. Donald, her father was an economic analyst in Jamaica, which was his home country. Her mother was a civil rights activist. She died from colon cancer in the year 2009. She only has one sister ,Maya Harris ,who is a lawyer and a writer.

She studied law at University of California Hastings college of law. Additionally, she also studied a degree in political science and economics at Howard University. Harris is married to a man by the name of Douglas Emhoff. The two got married in the year 2014. He had formerly been married to Kerstin Emhoff, a film producer. Kamala and Douglass met on a blind date and married on a lavish wedding. However, they share two children together. These are Ella and Cole. Kamala does not have any biological kids of her own .

So, Kamala started her career in the office of the District Attorney. She was later elected as the District Attorney of San Francisco in the year 2003. In the year 2010, she was elected as the Attorney General of California. She was re-elected for the same post in 2014. Therefore, she became the first African woman to serve in the senate. During her service in office, she advocated for good healthcare, banning of crude weapons and tax reforms. In the year 2020, she vied for the presidential seat nominations but later withdrew. They joined hands with Bidden as his running mate and won the elections. Both of them were inaugurated on January 20 2021.
