Njeri Maina is popularly known as “Wakili”. She is the Women Representative of Kirinyaga County, in the concluded elections, on August 9th, 2022 in Kenya.
Njeri Maina background and Education
Njeri was born in 1993 and raised in Kibingoti village, Ndia Constituency, Kirinyaga County. She is the daughter of the Late Joseph Maina and Joyce Wanjiru. ‘Gaceri’ as the popular name is in her home town has six 6 siblings. She attended Kiangoma Primary School. Later on, she scooped high marks to join the prestigious National School Kabare Girls High School in Kianyaga, Gichugu Constituency, Kirinyaga County. She later got the chance to pursue her Law degree at The University of Nairobi. She also attended the Kenya School of Law and got admitted to the Bar in 2019.
Njeri Maina Career
Njeri is the founder of Njeri Maina Law advocates. This prestigious law firm was established to deal with cases affecting her community members. Amongst them are widows and less privileged members of the community.
Njeri has also been a renowned businesswoman where she sold beauty products such as women’s wigs and hair products. She is a founder of Moirani Beauty Company She also got into a business involving the selling of women’s handbags, jewelry, and other accessories.
She has been involved in many community service-related projects within her home area such as donating several items to young mothers, especially in maternity wards and less privileged in society.
Njeri’s political career came when she first vied for a Women’s Representative Political seat in her home county, Kirinyaga under the political party United Democratic Alliance (UDA). This was her first attempt in the seat and politics in general and she clinched the position with more than half the votes of her second opponent. She is 28 years and not only is she the youngest but also the most promising young leader in the Mt Kenya region.
