Symptoms of gonorrhea.

Signs of gonorrhea

In men the following symptoms are experienced ;

  • Pain while urinating.
  • pus discharge from the penis tip.
  • Swelling and a painful testicle.

In women the following are the signs;

  • Pain while urinating.
  • Bleeding in the vagina, especially after sexual intercourse.
  • Pain in the abdomen.
  • Vagina discharge.
  • An urge to frequently urinate.
  • Heavy periods.

Gonorrhea also affects the mouth and the throat and its symptoms include;

  • Increased sore throat.
  • A reddish color appears in the throat.
  • Lymph nodes swelling.

However, it also spreads to the eyes especially when a person touches the eyes after touching the genitals without thoroughly washing hands. Symptoms of gonorrhea in the eye include

  • Pain in the eye.
  • Reddish color in the eye.
  • Presence of mucus around the eye.

Ways to prevent gonorrhea.

The following are measures one can practice to reduce the risk of contracting gonorrhea.

  • Minimizing sexual partners.
  • Frequent gonorrhea screening.
  • Practicing the use of condoms.
  • Abstinence.
